Best Resolution for a 40" Monitor??? in General Discussion

I'd like to know what you guys think the best resolution is for a 40" monitor, curved? I play a lot of invoker mid so technically I need mobility and easy mouse to map navigation. I Tried the 1980x1080p but seems there are framerate drops when last hitting. I also tried 1900x1058p & 3480x2160p too. What would you advise?

i dont think surface area of a monitor matters, i think its a gpu or a driver issue that you have.

You should play at your monitor's native resolution for optimal mouse movement. If you have a 4K monitor and are experiencing framerate drops, your GPU may not be able to handle that resolution. From my experience with 4K monitors, even if you lower the resolution, you won't notice much of a framerate gain. Consider upgrading your GPU if it's garbage or lowering your graphics settings. Switching to dx11 from dx9 will probably help too.

Well i have i5-4460, 8gb ram, gtx 1050. I tinkered with it earlier. When i checked my launch options -gl was enabled and vsync locked at 60fps. So decided to go dx9 off vsync and antialiasing... Last hitting and mobility was a lot easier. But packet loses and dc's come about, but farm and mouse mobility is easier.

is such a huge monitor really helping, though?

What graphic card do you have ?

well actually it does, that minimap and hero icons are easy to spot haha! I mean it's the experience, playing with a 4k Ultra HD monitor, finally dream come true! Porn too! Rofl! kidding! But yeah it does, especially heroes that are not easily spotted, like riki, if you have a 40' monitor you can see footsteps of riki in the river easily! sunstrike! Puck too, that annoying blink to areas which you don't normally see if you have a small monitor.... Map Field of Vision is wider and misclicking can be avoided... Last hitting creeps are easier.

But if you are using that resolution you need stronger gpu . ATLEAST gtx 1070 or equivalent to that (only for dota ofc) since your native is 4K.

I know... Will upgrade in a few weeks. But so far, gtx1050 does well after few tweaks... even for a low/mid end gpu... can't complain. :)
What do you guys think of RTX gpu's coming out lately? Has anyone tried it? is it good?

Main reason for buying a 40' monitor, coz i suck at last hitting creeps... So with a 40' monitor i've improved my last hitting. ROFL

Gtx 1050 is good for 1080p only !
And its no doubt that rtx gpus are stronger . Question is , are you willing to pay that much for ONLY dota ? I mean if you are gonna play only games like dota .. gtx 1080 is suffient even for 4k reso.
What is refresh rate of your monitor ?

Turn off V-Sync, it brings with it mouse inaccuracy.

@devil... I did, I turned off Vsync and I thought screen tearing would occur. I was surprised that it ran smoothly at around 90-120 fps. Only problem I had was packet loss.

                            144hz .. gtx 1050 .. vsync ! Something is wrong here !!

i tried vsync and it sucks it really really sucks... turned it off and my mobility was better for a 40" monitor.
Vsync is good no doubt. Previous monitor I was a vsync fanboy.

I tried dx9 and gl... gl is smooth but seems to lack that punch terms of mouse cursor clicking
                              dx11 hmmm, screen tearing
dx9 seems the best way to go for me.

maybe change ur monitor from 40inch to 24inch if thats an option kappa
