im always at the very high skill bracket when solo while when i play with friend im only around normal-high skill which is i got already a party mmr (3654) solo still locked
My question is, do you think its easier to raise unranked or ranked mmr?
I'm (4k) currently helping and advising two IRL friends who are picking up dota. They are 200 matches in and tend to have really good moments though they are still learning. They really want to play ranked however they both unranked solo queue into normal skill bracket. in addition to this when we try to queue for ranked as a party, it says the skill range is too high and wont let us. The mmr range limit from what i read is 2k making them less than 2k mmr unranked. My question is, do you think its easier to raise unranked or ranked mmr? Currently ive been telling them not to go ranked because i think it may be harder to increase.
You are mostly correct, with the exception of max mmr achievable through calibration, it's 4999, not 4.5k, the highest i achieved after calibrating cap change was 4976, before that , when mmr was first introduced i got 5.4k after calibration
I don't see why you have to ask my opinion for what your rating is when you can see all your games are very high skill. You know you're going to get atleast 3700. And if you deserve more than that, you'll climb very fast
What are the cutoffs for these skill brackets?
Normal Skill - you suck
High Skill - you suck
Very High Skill - you probably suck
Keep in mind that your ranked and unranked matchmaking ratings are not correlated, therefore, you may play at a very high skill level in unranked, but still be placed in high skill matches in ranked since your MMR is trash.
Why do some of my matches not contain skill brackets?
If you just played the match, you should give it a few minutes to load the skill bracket, it usually appears in a much shorter time than that though. However, the Dota API will only label a match if it is 100% sure of the skill of the match using their algorithm, if not sure, no skill bracket will appear. However, Dotamax will always give a skill bracket if you deem it necessary to find a specific games skill.
What will my MMR be after calibration?
The easiest way to predict your mmr is to look at your recent matches skill brackets.
- If your solo queue matches you're playing tend to be in normal skill, you should expect to be absolute dogshit.
- If your solo queue matches you're playing tend to be in high skill, you should expect to be absolute dogshit.
- If your solo queue matches you're playing tend to be in very high skill, you should expect to absolute dogshit.
@salza
5 wins and 5 loses in calibration....u know when i saw 3k avg game on my first calibration and normal skill i kinda fell apart so i didnt care shit about calibrating....
I played mostly in party and had normal skill i think i had only 40 solo games which were all hs and mayb 10 vhs
And my wr was like 44-45% cuz of the party my friends were retards
I'm currently at level 11 trophy, been in VHS for awhile now and currently matching with lower 5k players at unranked matches, does this mean my unranked mmr is in the upper 4k?
The only thing is that just because those guys have a high ranked MMR they don't necessarily also have a high or equal unranked hidden mmr is one thing to keep in mind.
I've played vs people with 4k solo mmr in unranked normal skill mmr games before on my smurf as an example.
Keep in mind that your ranked and unranked matchmaking ratings are not correlated, therefore, you may play at a very high skill level in unranked, but still be placed in high skill matches in ranked since your MMR is 3200-3700.
That was pretty clear. Explaine me this: How many kda ratio, gpm,xpm etc... You need to get your hidden mmr higher? How many (for example me) games i need to play good to be placed from high skill bracket to very high? i hope u understand my english

@sedlyf Trust me,im calibrating my new party mmr,it does not affect, only thing whitch afect ur tbd mmr is ur stats comparing to ur enemys and teammates. if u are doing good compare too them u will go +100 mmr, if u do bad u will go -100, and if u do neutral u will be at the same mmr in next calibrating game. U need to have good k/d/a, hero and tower dmg, gpm,xpm,cs and hero healing(if u play support/healer) compare too all players in the game. I know lots of things about dota 2 system, but english is not my native language so i cant explane all those things better then this.
guys kindly check my recent games those are party tbd do you think i can still calibrate in 3k+
when im playing im in vhs bracket but if i play with my 2k/3k friends im in normal bracket
salza is the hottest upcoming moderator in the entire market
@ItsADisastaaaaah
Your solo can still be 3.7k+ if you're consistently vhs. Your party will be sub 3.2k

@Our Deepest Fear
Personally, I think ranked would be more effective as you can see what rank you're at and know where you are and how you're progressing.
@Mid Lane Abuse
Yeah I've been corrected before but I forgot to change it haha
salza please rate my profile what do you thnk ill get on calibration im near to unlock my rank match
It's hard to tell as you have all the skill brackets on your profile. And I can't discern which matches are party as opposed to solo.
ranked = party
normal = solo
I expect you to be a low very high skill if that makes sense. 3.6-3.8 for sure
@MVP Salza not bad at all tnx bro
@Salza
Can you guess my mmr?
I improved alot and im consistently in the VHS bracket...All games are solo

5 wins and 5 loses in calibration....u know when i saw 3k avg game on my first calibration and normal skill i kinda fell apart so i didnt care shit about calibrating....
Well lets see whats happens to this one after 50 more games :D
I meant leading up to the calibration.
@Salza

You still have the Why do some of my matches not contain skill brackets? section completely wrong if you see my other comment on this thread..
Grind it grind it grind it... keep calm and pick spectre

I guess I just skimmed past the first comment
@Salza

I said that in the main post.
That's been in the post since the very beginning.

^bro whats the mmr of your teammates and enemies in those recent matches? (you can check their profile since some were showing it)
@Roadto60%Winrate
I don't think it's a set number. As long as you keep winning games while improving your stats from the previous game, you should climb!
@HotSalza

I am hard support. Can you give a look to my last matches overall please? ):
One question does Winrate affect ur mmr while u are calibrating it?
Ive decreased alot but my skill is still vhs :)
