@Cartographer Arteezy, all of the casters including Sheever, 2GD, Tobi, even CyborgMatt is verified. Famous standin-players are verified too.

verified is simply for players popular enough to copy them. If suddenly everyone decided it was cool to be called 'Concede' because my name is Concede (rather than the name being desirably, like "death" or something) then there is a reason for verification.

It really isn't about a specific tournament.

well, people know more "100kpm" than "matrice" since matrice was mainly used when i was playing only on french scene. But i guess that now, most people even forgot about 100kpm :)
