why can't I carry these party games? games are trenchy as fuck and I can't win when I play with friends. someone tell me how to win. im like 40% winrate with friends. its like 4.1k-4.3k bracket.

      change friends.

Probably they are like 3k solo and 3.5k+ party mmr. It's easier to win if your friends have party mmr lower then their solo mmr. Also, everyone needs to play their best heroes, not "highest mmr goes mid".

Do good lane combos with them. Something like Lich/Veno/Abaddon + 1 are generally very strong dual lanes that sometimes can even go up against trilanes.

Ideally you would include anyone better than you and delete progressively the ones you pass.

^ that makes you sound like a dick

              Vandal

^ Well, yes it does sound very dickish, because he's eliminating all the small-penis individuals from his list, thereby growing the average penis size. Refer to the theory of penis-dependent MMR inflation proposed by Vandal earlier this morning for more information.

80% of my friends would be lost if I followed n7k1's advice.

Just work with them on it, get them onto your level instead of having them pull you down to theirs. Make a "strat" for your party and play it out till you can ace it then go something else.

do not play with friends think "play for fun, not care about lose or win", because that friends never want to try hard, they just want fun, therefore they will pick some fun heroes and not care to what the team need

Make an alternate account for when you play with your friends.

What's the point of deleting the ones you pass? 1 Bad day and they might be higher than you again. For example, I keep players from somewhere around 4.5k to 6.3k mmr on my friendlist that I stack with and there's no point to delete any of them just because my mmr is higher because they're still as good or even better players.
Btw I've got 4.9k solo 3.5k party guy in my friendlist so you shouldn't be complaining about it.

n7k1 has a point. I think removing all friends who are less than 400 mmr off their solo MMR. Also remove all friends who are over 500 MMR lower than you.

                              n7k1

-You can make an alternate account
-Use the Tag tool to manage your friendlist and sort them a bit
-Explain openly to those friends you consider a handicap in your games, that you wish to improve your rating and therefore need to take some measures (nothing to do with liking someone personally). Not everyone plays for the same reasons you do and good friends will understand you.
-Make new dota friends to add and/or replace
-If you dont follow competetive scene i suggest to have frequent look into it and learn from it and how to possibly apply it to your team. Watch games together with your friends and talk about the game and how you could possibly apply some of the things you see.
-There is always unranked to play some "fun" games with your loved ones

Its not only a matter of rating (unless we are talking about huge rating disparity) but also a mindset-like friend/team composition. People who try to play their best will usually perform better in the long run than those who just use dota as a casual entertainment.

Are they trying and getting any better? I have stopped playing with a few friends cus they're always on the phone and never learn anything new, keep doing the same stupid shit. They just don't care about the game, they play it for social reasons only.
