I thought I have to replace something in my pc then after weeks of unplayable dota i figured closing facebook while playing solves all my issues... :D still if i forget about it and have fb opened in background, i have terrible laggs (screen stops for 2 seconds every 2 second and also does the voice). probably its not your case but wanted to share maybe someone else has similar issues.

I use rogers internet... most unstable fucking ISP ever. id have super good internet for a few hours, and then BAM during a teamfight no internet at all. i want OUUUUUT. shame this isnt in canada yet :/

Yeah when I used to travel I think rogers internet is like your version of AT&T in canada. Not that fabulous in my experience when I had to use it in Winnipeg and Thunder Bay.

Ok......... this is interesting.......... while I do not use face book, my wife uses it from her phone and probably left the app up. I wonder if it has the same results even though it is on a different device while I was playing. I will have to check this out.

Thing is, I don't quite get, how to use commas in English language. For example, these two sentences were written, using punctuation rules of my native language, which are pretty strict about this stuff and don't allow you to choose: to put comma or not to put. But I think, they are overloaded with commas so I just take like half of them away.

My ping would spike all the time, swapped out my wrtg54 router for a newer N one by dlink. Working fine now. Kinda weird, those routers are supposed to survive the apocalypse, everyone swears by them.

Why? Weather is bad? It just started snowing here in Kansas City after lunch. I am surprised it is snowing this heavy for being in spring, granted we did have one big heavy snowfall in May 2nd last year. Global warming is not working out like Al Gore said. Well.......... I swapped my old WRT54 a year ago with a dlink wireless N last year, but still the same issues. I ended up re-wiring my cable modem direct to my PC last night and made no difference so I'm 100% sure it was Time Warner Cable being useless. I <3 cable help desk peoples usual troubleshooting fixes:
1. Scan your pc for viruses (duh high school dropout done that)
2. Reset your router/modem (duh high school dropout)
3. Disconnect all other wireless devices in the house (wow genius....)
4. Plug your PC direct into the cable modem. (Advanced thinking here folks)
5. Replace your cable modem at a Time warner cable store (FFS 5th time in a year and doesn't help people.........)
I even replaced all the copper wiring in my house when I got it and old COAX cabling. They've switched the line from one pole on one side of the house and to the opposite side, I even bought grounding wiring for them and still didn't help years ago.
Jesus sounds terrible. Too many people watching porn in your neighboorhood probably lol. Does downloading a new config file (ie factory resetting the modem, not just rebooting it) help at all? Seems like if you swap modems then no. Also what modem is it? Same model every time? Did you lookup online reviews of it? Maybe that brand just blows, you can buy your own as long as it's cable company approved and they'll not charge you the equipment fee. That's probably not the problem but just saying.
And yeah internet and tv monopolies need to be broken up. The supreme court internet content restriction cases are so stupid too. We're gonna be like china before you know it when these companies straight up censor.

Yeah I'll have to look up the model # but they only have 1 model for the higher pay internet from TWC. So I don't think it'll help much. Yes I've reloaded the config file for my router/cable box already. I think its a motorolla something IDK I'm at work so I can't remember. I just keep telling myself "3 more months! 3 more months!" Heres what it is I found it, its a motorola surfboard B26 something... I''m not going to buy my own since just 3 more months it shouldn't be an issue due to the switch I'll finally have after 7 years of hit or miss Time Warner cable:
Well it was sunday night so maybe a lot of you but I'm going to try having facebook on for my wifes phone and my phone and lock the phones to see if it does affect it which I doubt but worth a shot. I may just end up playing the PS3 for a bit and catch up on some GTA V if it isn't cleared up by the time I get back home.
Yeah Wookie you know that Time warner cable and COMCAST are combining here soon so they will have an even bigger monopoly on the market after the merger.

After having a weekend of pings from 220 to 1000ms and packet drops as high as 25% while playing a few games (should of stopped after the first one) and making sure my "house" was in order (reset cable box, router, turn off all wireless devices hooked to the router, scan for viruses, etc etc.) I am really sick of time warner cable monopoly and not being able to run any other ISP from my neighborhood.

Cant wait until June 20th........... to pay $30 less than what I do now for time warner cable and have 20x the speed. Been an issue off and on with them and had several "technicians" come out to my house to troubleshoot line quality and packet drops.
Totally couldn't last hit to save my life sunday it was the worst. I would see spells happen over a second later and would wipe me out. Sent some hate mail to time warner cable after being upset with their service so long.
3 months can't come soon enough!
EDIT: IDK how some people with high pings play this it is beyond me. Kudos for KawaiiSocks playing in sub-optimal situations and still maintaining a high ranking.
I even tried plugging my cable modem directly into my pc last night and still was poop. I played a game of Left For Dead 2 just to make sure it wasn't Dota 2 acting up and I was getting pings in the same area. Couldn't shoot a zombie for the life of me.
