items or heroes?
If you want to deal with a pushing nature's prophet carry dust and perhaps a smoke to pick him off on a lane rotation. Then push while he's down.
Tinker is a bit trickier, you need to catch him quickly off guard with a stun/silence or both and wipe him out. Push while he's down.
Lone Druid or Lycan can be painful, just jump on them with the team as they're tankier but escape isn't as easy as other pushers. Unless Lycan ults to sprint away.
Death Prophet can be one of the most annoying to deal with, keep in mind her ult does physical damage. If your team can nuke her down quick enough with her ult up, then sure go for it. Otherwise wait till her ult ends and try and just zone her out from the building/tower just by 'being there'. Then take her out afterwards.
Good counters for rat dota are heroes with mobility or gank potential. Storm Spirit can zip in and quickly and wipe a single target (even better in conjunction with other heroes). Riki can gank from out of no where etc.
It really comes down to your team's map awareness and working together to eliminate a pusher before they have a chance to react and flee. Smoke ganks are so important in this regard. As is pushing directly after wiping their pusher, don't waste that X amount of seconds that they're dead just defending or farming, take towers and push!
You really want to kill the rat. Blink/Sheep/Orchid and Smoke help with this.
Alternatively, Travels let you tp directly to a tower push after pushing other lanes out. This greatly reduces the window of opportunity for heroes like Prophet to whack your buildings solo
If you don't carry a tp scroll don't bother reading advice, uninstalling is quicker
^ this. But do keep in mind TP'ing directly to the targetted tower is the fastest way to scare the pusher off and reducing your chance of ganking them to virtually zero. So TP to the one behind and sneak in for the kill.
I usually pick clockwork or storm to counter furion and tinker. I think disruptor works good against lycan as you can glimpse and kinetic field if he is in ult form and he can't run away while your team rapes the shit out of him.
Storm vs furion is my favorite. I'll zip half way across the map just to kill that fuckin rat. My zips are so long it takes furion down to 1/3 hp.
well, i was thinking more of items for carries/semi carries
like for instance, viper can't really do much do a bkb'd lycan... i was just stumped on what to buy at that point
get a halberd against lycan. I always buy that shit against a rat. And I recommend at least one other ally buy one too in extreme cases
Early fight. Fight the rat BEFORE they get some levels and items up. It'll only get harder to stop them if they're farmed/leveled. Or, pick even earlier team push. A Luna with her aura can work miracles (check my recent Luna games, 15 wins 0 losses using this strat).
Something that makes you initiate from a mile away. (Blink + hex/orchid/etc)
Also, if the rat gets out of hand, you must be able to turtle. You WILL lose all your outer towers (t1 and t2), but you must be able to defend high ground. You need good creep clearing abilities on your heroes. If you do not have this, you will almost surely lose the game (late).
so if u dont have a team that can defend against rat doto... u lose right?
i mean i find that it almost always wins... which makes it quite boring :/
Rat Lycan, Best Doto. Won my 2nd game w/ him and I must say that It's very effective on 4k Bracket.
Even if someone tp's I just keep pushing, but i back down if it's 2 tps
Slardar and centuar give me fits when I'm trying to rat. Get a blink on either and it's gg. They'll blink initiate on you then pop sprint or ult and bash you or double edge you to death. If you don't anticipate them coming and leave well in advance it's over. Unless they're really underfed and you can 1v1 them.

I do feel they could have played it better. Me and Tinker pretty much played our own game and if we did get killed we always had to buyback if it was a must. If not both dies (never happened) all lanes would remain pushed. We won early game, screwed up in midgame fights where we weren't sure if we wanted to commit or not, and I fucked up a TP I thought I had canceled and fed away a kill. However they didn't try to commit fully until me and tinker was 6slotted and already taken down T3's, so when they pushed I simply backdoored, bkb and tped out.
Fun game overall. DOTA IS HARD BOYS
I pick BH everytime I see rat doto potential on opposite team.
I disappear from the map after getting lvl7 and mana sustain item, then I constantly stalked their rat until they totally break down.
Once I gain a psychological advantage them, they will think twice to rat since they are scared that Im still stalking them.
