** Composite damage is calculated by multiplying the initial damage by the target's magic resistance and armor. For example, if you had 25% magic resistance, 50% physical damage resistance, and stepped on a full damage Level 4 Land Mine, the equation would be 600 x 0.75 x 0.50 = 225 actual damage. (Magic resistance and physical damage resistance percentages are subtracted from 100%.)

        mystical kind of damage

basically a weakened version of physical because it also gets reduced by magic resistance, which all heroes have. it can also be increased by magic amplification such as ancient seal or veil, but not ghost scepter or e-blade because ghost form makes you immune to physical damage.

So composite dmg type will be more powerful if combined w/ Elder Titan passive right?
            Thanks

              ^ Yes it will be

              matrice

even more, composite are extremly great with tc, cause you no longer suffer the double reduction, and your base damage value is extremly high

composite is increased by both parts of ET's aura, but it's still not more powerful than an equally damaging physical ability. it's very slightly weaker.

a 33% increase will almost negate default 25% magic resistance (1.33 x 0.75 = 0.9975, therefore 0.25% magic resistance), whereas a physical damage spell will not be affected by magic resistance at all.

composite damage will deal more damage than physical if your magic amplification is 1/3rd or more (>33.(3)%) though vs heroes which have the default 25% resistance.

                    But it goes through bkb!

                    Androgynous

thats because it's physical damage, not magical.

Totentanz to The King: M ...

Worst damage type in the game, so generally has a lot of damage/mana value like 360 damage for 120 mana on BM axes or Tech mines and suicide. But it gets reduced REALLY hard, even if you just have %25 resistance to both you will only take %56,25 of the damage.

It's more versatile though, as it allows you to kill ancients/towers and isn't completely useless against BKBs. Also, couldn't it theoretically be increased the most out of all damage types by reducing magic resistance AND armor? I mean you're basically amplifying it twice by having very low magic resistance as well as armor.

composite damage does not let you damage towers.

whether or not an ability damages towers is completely irrelevant to the damage type, for example, pugna's nether blast, tiny's toss and sniper's shrapnel are all magical damage and can damage buildings, beastmaster's wild axes and alchemist's acid spray are composite and do not damage buildings.

you don't seem to get the point. if a spell that currently deals composite damage was changed to deal physical instead, right off the bat that's a 33% increase in it's damage dealt.

if any composite spell was changed to deal physical you'd still be able to do ancients with them equally well, because ancients have 0% magic resistance.

theoretically yes, realistically no. you're not going to be stacking every magic amplification though. a veil alone is not enough to cancel out base magic resistance, so you'd need a hero ability, and most if not all heroes with magical amplification are magical based, whereas the few heroes with composite damage sources do not have composite damage as their main damage focus.

e.g. look at alchemist. yes he has an ability that deals composite damage. does that mean magic amplification is the best way to increase his damage? no it doesn't because his stun is physical and so are his auto attacks obviously.

right off the bat that's a 33% increase in it's damage dealt against heroes*

No more composite damage in this coming patch...
