New Weaver in General Discussion
Heathen

So, I haven't seen any discussion of the change to Weaver's geminate attack. The bugman is one of my favorite heroes, so I thought we could talk about it for a minute.

Maelstrom Weaver is fucking horrifying. Not only does Maelstrom proc not override the Geminate Attack, it can now proc off of the Geminate Attack. So it's very possible to attack somebody once, hit them twice, and proc lightning both times. Combine that with the change to Runes and it's very easy to get sustain for his weak early mana pool - just grab a bottle; you should always be able to get *a* rune. The early damage and fighting capability is really impressive.

I was thinking deffusal blade weaver, the slow from the active ups his kill potential a whole bunch and also gives him a way to get rid of silences and dust. Daedalus will be good late game, maelstrom is supper cost effective in terms of damage but I think those are really the only changes there is no reason to put a basher or life steal on him.

theres more early/midgame damage items on him

previously your mid game damage options was basically crit or deso. now you've also got basher or maelstrom as viable options

fyi maelstrom proc never overrode the geminate attack since geminate wasn't a UAM, if you procced maelstrom on an attack you'd still create a geminate attack if it was off cooldown, it just would have a 0% chance of proccing maelstrom's passive.

        > there is no reason to put a basher or life steal on him.

if there was reason before then it hasn't changed, because you can still lifesteal off primary attacks which are weaver's main source of damage still. it's the fact that his 1.8 BAT and his shit starting agility and agility gain (relative to other agi carries) is low, making chance-based items not very good on him.

also later in the game you cannot afford to be using shukuchi all the time because using shukuchi for chasing means you cannot be attacking. if you attack then you no longer have your chasing power. so having a basher means that there's less time spent not attacking due to having to chase with shukuchi. outside of shukuchi weaver is slow as hell and his attack range sucks. morphling can at least attack in waveform.

abyssal is good because weaver's mobility allows him to get in range to use the active, and the high raw damage synergises with geminate, although because basher wasn't as good as it is now and the buildup to abyssal is pretty crap due to one component being expensive and one being shit, it was rarely gotten on him.
