Why do you care about what other people say? Seriously, this is the internet. They have to account for their loss and say stupid things because of that.
Both Sniper and Riki are very hard to play. I think that Lich is the easiest and best for beginners.
sniper is easy to play you have 2 spells and your only real job is to stay back and right click.
Probably because all Sniper needs to be countered is initiation, but it is just not there in most of the pub games, or even if someone initiated, no follow up was available at that moment. So "stay back and right click" is true and commonly known, but not everyone has got to the level where this method of playing Sniper is not an option anymore.
@Mushi
How about Pudge? I've seen numerous Snipers failed miserably because of average hooking skills some random Pudge had.
Just point out how much those idiots who picked these "hard, high skill ceiling heroes" have fed in your game. The ones who cry about "easy heroes" are normally the ones who feed the most.
Yes, I definitely agree that sticking to these heroes are limiting your opportunities to learn high skill cap heroes. But possessing the skill to handle a wide range of heroes is one thing, getting too dependent on the easy heroes is another thing. While I have had the problem of getting stuck around them (Drow, Riki lol), the realization happened soon that I knew I must learn other heroes as well if I want improvement.
Yet people will just assume you have no skills the moment you insta-pick an easy hero, and bash or flame on that. Playing high skill cap heroes like Visage will look cool, but if you can't handle that, then you just got yourself into a big trouble.
Your point is certainly valid there. Thanks for that.
@Zano
Recently I meet Meepo in every second match and they all are good.
this "easy heros" will not be so good once you go higher mmrs, they are good at lower skills where ppl dont know how to play high skill cap heros like meepo, tinker, invoker, morphling, ebola spirit brew master etc.
Pudge vs Sniper will be nightmare for Pudge the longer range Sniper can achieve during laning phase. Avoiding hooks and ganks is the key, and it falls on many factors like availability of wards around the runes, Sniper player's reaction to incoming and visible hooks, and also the map awareness of both heroes.
Some people just can't avoid hooks like how "unreal" an easy bot can do, when they see an enemy Pudge trying to hook him while being visible. Then? Blame on the supports for not warding for sure! So... this is pub.
@Soultrap
And did these Meepos cry about someone picking an easy hero?
If I wasn't clear, I meant to say that those both pick a high-skill ceiling hero and cry about those who pick "begginers" heroes are normally the ones who feed the hardest.
4 min in dark eziest kill ever and befor that just buy smoke, with 1k range hook at lvl 1 xaxaxax pudge will eat sniper. the key is the smoke dont be lazy.
I never ever hear of someone crying op picking easy hero only techies picks. I sometimes rage when I play support and ta 1 shot me or invokers stupid eyuls meteor sunstrike cambo.
And i still cant belive that mushi cant play high skill heros thought he was pro.....
It's all about the prejudice about this "newbies" heroes, all heroes has its pros and cons.
If you underestimate what a player can do with a hero, you alredy lost half of the game.
Let's name some of that heroes:
-Viper
-Leoric (even with one active skill that doesn't mean he's a noob hero [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc143mvzjIo])
-Sniper (w33)
-Riki (Every time a friend of mine pick riki, some retard player starting crying because of it [http://www.dotabuff.com/players/174612252])
There's no noobs heroes, only noobs players

I used to agree with you but since pudge hook buffs and sniper shrapnel nerfs and headshot nerfs it's not the case. level 1 and 2 hook ranges are soooo long and sniper can't safely dmg t1 towers vs a pudge anymore. Used to be able to just shrapnel and hang back out of hook range. Not possible now. It's a hard matchup when it used to be easy.
With sniper if you have 2 bands and points in headshot you can eat a hook and still kill pudge until level 6. Also, if you have a salve and time it right, your advantage is even greater because pudge can't attack you while "headshot-ed" and rot does not cancel salve until level 7.
Imagine one of your teammates says: "I can play only Sniper, Riki or Faceless Void. Which one you want me to play?" What will be your answer?
erm sniper gets raped by pudge at all stages of the game
laning phase pudge buys stout shield and can literally walk past creepwave starting at level 3. if you come close he rots and hooks u. snipers base ms is really awful, not to mention he doesnt have good range for a while. a hook is a kill the entire game, snipers a positioning hero while pudge pulls u 1300 range out of ur desired position. and its never been the other way around as far as i can recall.
on the other hand sniper and riki are both hard heros to play, much harder than most of the carry shit that gets picked in matches. sniper is really high on positioning and with riki you need to know when to gank, when to farm, where heros are more so than on other heros
Calling sniper super easy hero is a joke. People fail him all the time mostly because of two reasons which he requires more than many other:
- lack of map awareness
- bad positioning
- lack of map awareness
- bad positioning
are for every single hero in game
just because he is bad hero dsnt mean he is hard to play
he needs 0 micro
no knowledge of special mechanics
no skills
there is reason he is almost in every game below 2k and earth spirit or invoker isnt
I could agree with riki as you will need to pay attention on enemy having dust gem sentries and necrobooks. landing good smokes covering most heroes and most important once. using ur ult to the best ability to escape or engage and many things like that.
^maybe I've just seen too many players fail sniper lately. True is that he needs better map awareness than most anyway. Also, OP is probably around 3k where lot of people are just too careless and consider things like dagger waste of money.
Anyway.. agree.
Sniper's still a great safelane carry with a babysitting support, I just don't like him mid now as it's too hard to push tower anymore without getting ganked.
void, pl, antimage, gyro, life stealer, tiny, jugg, pa, morphling, specter, dk, sven, luna, troll, wk, ck, medusa, lc
In my game i would replace sniper safelane for any of this heroes any game.
Reading this forum gives me cancer almost every time. You guys seem to think playing high skill cap hero makes you good... You can easily get to 5.5k with just basic mechanics and playing sniper or drow...
^ If you are talking about me, I never said that sniper or riki cant win games vs good ppl, only thing i said is that those that sniper is easy to play hero and there are lots of better carrys then sniper. cuz some ppl in this this forum said sniper is hard to play hero...
I like playing low skill cap heroes like Undying, lich, razor, viper etc...
Don't give a crap what other people say.
@-25
If you try to run from pudge, yes, you die. If you fight him, you have a good chance to kill him until level 6.

In Dota 2 where 2 teams play against each other with their picks of heroes, players generally play to win. Note that I said they generally play to win, which means some would want to play to lose for reasons.
Whenever some people pick easy heroes like Sniper, Riki and etc, most people would not appreciate it, since they are so easy to play and shows how incompetent, unskillful the player is to have high dependence on that specific hero.
However, be reminded that we generally play to win. If we aim for victory, why play something you are unfamiliar with and lose, but not play something you are good in and have better chance in winning? Furthermore, some drafts may seem to fit if certain heroes are picked, even if it means to pick the easy heroes. Example, if you need DPS and there is not much initiator on the opposition, Sniper might be good due to its super long range, keeping him safe while contributing damage. If you are having 4 allied ranged heroes, you may want to try Drow Ranger for her aura if other roles are fulfilled. Hero picks are always situational, but easy heroes are certainly not against the rules, unless it goes against your own fancy rules.
The key is, do you want to play Invoker while not even knowing most of his spells, and lose, or play something easy you know you are good in, to win?
