Its very difficult to actually ruin hardware unless you're extremely careless with it. Most systems will have a fail safe temp that will power everything down if it hits that temp. Using RMA is if something is faulty and you want to not have something faulty, you RMA for the same product or similar that's in perfect working order.
I don't see a problem with this and it's just smart. Why waste more money if you've made a mistake or the company you bought from has.

Why not? If something doesn't work get a new one. It's not exactly honourable to return something YOU broke though, but w/e.
I returned a faulty product by swapping boxes because I didn't want to go through warranty so I'm just as bad I guess.

Uh are you sure he's doing RMA and not just returning shit? Cus I bought the wrong ram by mistake (1 8gb stick instead of 2 4gb ones) off newegg and they took it back no issues. It's called customer service dude and it's a big reason people prefer using newegg and others.

Buy item, it breaks. Buy same item, take broken item and receipt for new item into the store and return it. Now you have a refund for new item and replacement for the old one that works.

I always never RMA items, unless it was really not my fault. Anyways why do caucasians RMA for almost anything. My white friend just updated hic rig and RMA'ed 4 items. That's like the 10th item he RMA'ed in the last year. Some was his fault (OCing). Some was cuz he bought wrong ones (slower ram) etc...
