If you will be, for example, farming a relic, it makes it easier because you will spend less time exposed with unreliable gold.

I don't think you usually get to make a choice about what kind of gold you have, you take fights as opportunity presents and farm otherwise. The only time I worry about unreliable gold is to buy stuff right before death.
