0.6 strength is quite a lot actually add it to HP per strength from 19 to 20 + Armlet 5 more armor + good silver edge buildup. IDK about sabre, but he seems good. TBH he countered last meta heroes very well mechanically, but he wasn't that great overall.
i wouldnt get saber on him because he has an inbuilt slow already and he shld skip saber if its just for 1 extra hit + mana regen
Its about the abyssal blade and armlet buff. Players never knew that lifestealer is good with vanguard. It makes him so tanky and so fucking hard to kill. Check my recent games i just made some good stats while using him
It's 120 extra hp at level 10, hardly game breaking.
Armlet 5 armor though, that's a big change. That's ~30% more ehp, which is more like 450 hp at level 10 with armlet toggled on. though I guess the 120 combined with that adds up to even more ehp.
And yes I agree in theory he counters invoker and od and zeus pretty well having built in rage, a nice slow to prevent kiting, but in reality those guys end up kiting him anyway and it didn't matter even if they weren't direct counters. I can't think of a ton of lifestealer direct counters, maybe legion since he can duel before lifestealer gets rage and armlet toggle off? Maybe jug cus omni slash kills him?
DP got a big hit, she really used to murder him, now not as much, although the silence and ulti are still annoying. Also Blademail hardly matters because you already get 50% lifesteal from Open Wounds and also have Feast. Also the Armlet buff is indeed important, 5 armor is very nice when the only armor item you get whole game long is AC. Also people probably don't get Basher as much anymore, because Abyssal is worse, thus making the hero better because Basher is only nice when you already have some nice attack speed.
Jugg beats him up pretty decent but like slark vs him more . You get tons of agility off him and he can't lock you down to kill

His win rate is up like 5 points since patch but he actually got nerfed. He got a teeny amount of strength per level but lost lvl 6 ancient infest which was only time they were good, and new blade mail going through magic immunity should destroy him. So what am I missing? Echo saber build or something? It's still not in his top items for the week. His counters got nerfed? I don't really see OD and invoker as big lifestealer counters.
