Ur reaction will be faster when u inticipate something, u alrdy see the animation or projectile that's flying to u duh
U mean unavoidable stuff like axe call right? U anticipate. If u can't anticipate then reaction time comes into play. Don't forget cast time. If it's 0.3 and ur avg is <0.3 u shd dodge it most times.

hex cannot be manta dodged you either get hexed or the hex is off cd because you mantad first, wheras stomp type spells are put on cd
ya u can't manta dodge things targetable abilities with no projectile. like for example hex/duel/etc. the best case is you break their animation and they have to reselect a new target which is still helpful for escaping, but it's not really a dodge.
and u make no sense.
if the cast time is 300ms that means you need to manta dodge in the final 99ms of the cast animation. if you manta the moment he starts casting that means you will be vulnerable for the remaining 200ms of the cast.
that's why i feel like it is longer than 100ms because tons of things are actually quite easy to dodge when i feel it should be harder if manta is only 100ms
No u misunderstood me. I just meannt u have time to react. It doesn't mean u manta immediately. Let's say u manta at midway thru call which takes 0.3s to complete with a 0.25 reaction time. In that remaining 0.05 s of the animation u hit ur manta and u have 0.1s where u disappear. U have successfully dodged call.
I know u can't dodge hex I meant to demonstrate that the reaction time comes into play because of cast animation. U could manta dodge hex by confusing the enemy if say it had a cast point for example. They would have to recast it because there now 3 of u. I've "dodged" duels this way.
there's input lag in non full-screen mode for any game btw, like 30-ish ms, so if u wanna be competitive play in fullscreen. The trade off is screen tearing
as jacked says it isn't about reaction times. imagine trying to catch a ball if you depended on your reaction times - a ball travelling at 10m/s would travel 2m in that 250ms reaction time.
humans are able to differentiate between moments smaller than 0.1 sec i believe.
it doesn't have THAT much to do with reflexes imo, like it's different when you see the projectile flying towards you so you have time to prepare and "sync" with it
but if you'd like get stunned by wk from invis in your face or so then your reaction time would come to a play (bad example actually but i can't think of any better)
^here is a pro tip. Our reaction to visual stimuli is around 250ms. However it is possible to react around 100ms. And that's to audio stimuli.
In case anyone plays dota without sound may be wondering, u suck more without sound.
u probably react a lot faster to the sound of LC's loud ass horn (assume u hear it) than if u just reacted to visual of LC blinking out of nowhere.
Imagine if you are dodgeing storm hammer you will see sven casting hammer so you can press your manta button immediately. Or axe call you will notice that you group up too much with your teamate and and focus on the center of your team and when you saw axe blink you instantly manta
It's pattern + muscle memory+ anticipation + audio and visual cues + timing rather than pure reaction speed I suppose. Similar to any rhythm game.
U can fake spells to bait phase shifts/rage/spin/manta/dark pact so who cares about reaction speed. The enemy not faking spells to spook u from dodging their spells is probably a mistake by them.
I actually pop bkb from being spooked by my ally blinking next to me once with slardar in the opposing team a long time ago.
Anyways if u wanna practice manta dodging, first pick sniper in unranked and watch all the enemy smurfers pick some jumpers and manta dodge them.

i never seen anyone successfully dodged bara charge. its either u manta too early and get stunned, or u waited until the very moment before he crashes into you and its too late to manta-dodge. but bara ult can be dodged i think
You can dodge finger and laguna strike if you're as good as me. For the record, I've also dodged bara charge

If for these reaction tests you had a progress bar, count down, or something similar to know when the click event is about to arrive, you'd get less then 100 reaction time.
Try the "hit the 500 mark" test
Assume that's like hitting manta dodge on some projectile or some shit. I got a 1 in that test, I'm sure you could get that too

wiki says 100ms is the invulnerability frame for manta..
but is it really 100ms? that seems really small. personally i can manta dodge easy things like a projectile like 90% of the time. but if i go do a reflex test i will get some sad score like 250-300ms reaction time. i know you can see it coming so it's more about timing but idk i feel like the invul period is longer than 100ms.
or maybe im just a god and i dontk now it.
