Deranking, as you call it, won't happen with medals. Your medal will not drop since it represents the Peak reached by you during the season.
However, your MMR in your stats page will update after every game with ~ +/- 25 and that is still used for RMM. The medals are just cosmetic trophies.
So basically when you drop below the threshold for your medal in terms of MMR, you will start getting matched with players from the tier below yours. E.g, you will be Ancient 0 matching with Legend 4/5 people.

So if I get Ancient this season, I won't ever drop below it, according to current RMM ranking rules and right now I won't ever drop below Legend.
