just use what is comfortable for you, that's the best
I use all default keys (zxcvbn items, qwerdf skills) with edge pan because that's just how I started out

Start playing Warcraft3 and learn how to use legacy. You'll be gucci in no time.

Why don't you use what's comfortable for you?

Voice chat on MB4, Chatwheel on MB5.
Z X C D F V for items.
Q W E R T Y for skills.
' for scan.
B for TP.
I don't play micro heroes (control groups).

OP is 3k because he cant press the buttons fast enough
meanwhile BSJ saying he has no high mechanical skills and he is 7k just because of game sense and map control.

he just said u can be top 100 like him without any special mechanical skills

spells: QWERTG (alt T and alt G are difficult for me to quickcast, so i dont use quickcast on some heroes for this reason)

I use QWERDF for Spells and
3 4 TAB SPACE X C for items.. I need to change my keybinds specially for items and group units..
My hero select is in 1 and all other unit select is in 2..
quick buy B teleport V buy sticky T
So basically i'm using 5678 for group units.. and everything are so scattered that sometimes i have to find keys on my keyboard before i can press it lmao

I'm planning to learn meepo but figured that with my current keybind i'll prolly never be able to

I play with my left hand on the mouse, so I use the right-side of the keyboard for my hotkeys.

7 8 9 are my top row of items
U I O P are my Q W E R keys.
K L are my "extra" abilities like Zeus' Nimbus.
V B N M are my bottom row of items, with M being the tp scroll slot. My thumb rests here and handles these.

T Y are my chat wheel keys, G is my in-game VoIP key and I've been a staunch Hold Position command user since WC3, so I'm always hitting H which is conveniently available for my index finger which normally rests on the U key.

wasd for camera

Legacy keys for skills and f1 for hero 2 for all hero units 3 specfic unit 4 courier shop is space quick buy F3. TAB swtich units. This is standard keys for players who played W3 before. Inventory items is Alt Q W A S Z X.
Chat is Enter key. Specific Manta illusion I put it on 5.

QWERDF - skills
123456 - items
Z - main hero
XCVBNM - control groups (I use only till B)
J - courier
K - courier deliver items

I find it that using items is easier with 1..6 than standard setup. I think keybinds don't matter as much as option settings.

Shop: B
Hero: F1
Cour: F2, F3

Add skill: Spacebar

Control group: 2,3
Select All other units: 1

Camera grip: Mouse 4

skills : legacy

camera:wasd

misc= zxcv

Came from HoN, so Alt + QWEASD for items.
Disadvantage: Using Blink Dagger then Echo Slam will have a millisecond gap, because after Alt+E, I have to release Alt then move my index finger to R to use R(instead of Alt+R)
whereas default Dota 2 keys would just be pressing Z/X/C/V/B/Space and R almost simultaneously with both thumb and index finger.

Advantage: Hard to misclick and a lot more space for other keys.
