This is weird, check here it says my mirana game was high skill: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/370669835
while on my anti mages it says normal skill: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/86879977, clicking on the actual game it says normal skill though so i think its normal skill brakcet still.

if the team average is above 3.65k it is very high skill, if the team average is below 3k average it is normal skill. Not a hard concept.

At what point does it matter? Seems to me the mirana game was considered high skill for a moment then changed back?

3k average = high skill isnt true btw, i had one game where only me archon V at 3k mmr and rest of the team was legend 2 yet it didnt count as high skill. Legend 1 = 3100 where im currently at and seems like not hitting high skill games anyways

I think normal skill is up to 3350 and vhs is 3750

You will get high skill matches when you reach Legend 3

MMR, it's all MMR.

You can derank almost 2 ranks worth of medal mmr and still keep your medal. Hence why you see so much disparity in medals. Also take into account that a STAR is like 100-150 mmr and the Matchmaking finds you players ranging up to 400mmr or more sometimes

I think its because your mmr for one role is lower than your main role, while system takes your main mmr into consideration.

For example when I queue for support Im Ancient 5, for offlaner Divine 1 and Divine 3 for safe lane. So even if I play support I play vs all divines 2-7, while it shows Ancient 5 in game although it seem that mmr distribution is not good for both teams.

Its not visible but you have different ranks for every role now on ranked roles.

i have highest impact as mid player tho, but i bet most supports i end up with only queue that role cause they are out of roles.

dont care too much about the skill bracket but this kowareta guy calling me liar for claiming to be legend 2-3 before and not hitting off hs games, im at 3200 currently omw back to my ATH mmr still not hitting of high skill games very frequently

3800+ is Very High

Has been this way since it was introduced and think the numbers should probably be raised, but as others have mentioned it's all pretty irrelevant anyways.

why would the number ever be raised lol? The high and very high is something only dotabuff randomly came up with. No other stat tracker site does this. There are almost no dotabuff staff or active members anymore to care about such things else why do you think there is no moderators to clean up forum trash or punishing people obviously breaking dotabuff code of conduct.

Maybe I don't understand the concept, but I'm pretty sure your skill determines your skill bracket.

jesus christ the hs bracket is narrow i get vhs games now on solo queue just about when i started to get hs games lol

I feel like they should rework their definitions
normal skill: sub 3.5K
high skill: 3.5K to 5K
very high skill: 5K to 7.5K
7.5K above is semi-pro/pro skill

I get that the numbers for NS/HS/VHS are completely arbitrary and decided upon by the Dotabuff guys but it seems so dated. Even if they used some old metric like "the average Dota player's MMR", it seems so dumb that there's only a ~600MMR range for "high skill"

i think archon and lower should be noraml skileld, legend - ancient high skill and divine+ very high skill

vhs games as support is far more easier in my opinion to win rather than normal skill. there seems to always be at least one core not dumb enough who you can play around.

spoke too fucking soon!! next game i got riki mid who dced and got abandoned, the two following game i get ursa carry who prefers to farm when we have sick kill potential, magnus mid who used rp 2 times by 30 min and somehow got outfarmed by a ta, all he did was afk jungle lmao
